Determine an employee’s fit „jobjectively”

PractiWork® as an objective measurement of person-job fit

The concept of person-job fit describes the harmonious match or fit between a person and the work environment. It can make a major contribution to job satisfaction and effective work performance. It is important for people who are currently looking for work, who are at the beginning of their professional career, but also it can help employers find the right people for the job.

This is the concept, let’s take a closer look at it!

The person-job fit theory

This theory emphasizes the following important factors:

  1. Abilities and skills: an individual should have the abilities and skills to meet the requirements of the job. A person with the right skills and abilities will perform more effectively in the workplace
  2. Interest and motivation: work is done in areas that interest and motivate the individual. If someone approaches a task or area with passion, they are more likely to complete it.
  3. Values and culture: Aligning workplace culture with an individual's values is also key. If values and expectations between the individual and the workplace are compatible, there is a greater chance of long-term successful collaboration.
  4. Personal goals and career plans: alignment also means that individuals can pursue personal goals and career plans in the workplace. If the job offers opportunities for personal development and advancement, this can help with matching.

How to make a concept work?

There are two steps to do this:

Both requires a valid and reliable methodology that generates data we can use to find out the extent of fit.

Cognitive abilities are required for almost every job. A main part of determining the fit between a person and a job. However, measuring only these creates a huge blindspot: it leaves out jobs that require manual skill and abilities from the scope of the measurement process.

This is why PractiWork® was started. PractiWork® is a combination of in-house designed hardware, software and brainware,  being continuously developed. PractiWork® is an all-in-one touch screen with two connectable devices called Control Board and Workpad.

These allow the precise measurement of cognitive and psychomotor abilities and provides equal opportunities for everyone.  We collect valid and objective data about a person's behavior through interactive, adaptive and immersive exercises.

PractiWork analyzes the cognitive and fine motor skills, abilities, attitudes and interests of the individual and even a group. We also uncover hidden correlations and patterns by analyzing the large amounts of data gathered.

But what does „jobjectively” mean?

The extent of fit differs from job to job, so it has to be objectively calculated on a job-to-job basis. That is what PractiWork® can provide: showing the fit between a person and various jobs using objective methods.

The system can therefore recommend to each user a job in which they will be able to perform to the best of their ability, based on their individual characteristics. This feature of the system is also useful for all employers: it not only shows whether a candidate is suitable for a position, but also what other jobs they would be good for.
